we at emz also deal responsibly with the critical Corona situation (CoVid 19) and have therefore decided to shutdown our German plants and our Czech plant from April 6th to 17th, 2020. During this period, we will almost completely close our production, product development and administration in Nabburg, Zangenstein and Černošín.

On Friday, we could celebrate together with our trainee Thomas Prüfling in the Continental Arena Regensburg. In this year’s summer exam, he achieved the best results of all as a trainee in toolmaking of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) of Upper Palatinate / Kelheim.
On 10 October.2019, a further 13 managers from the Group successfully completed the General Management Programme. Under the direction of Professor Daniel Keller – Keller Partner – participants learnt about the key topics of "Strategy", "Managerial Effectiveness" and "Change Management". The contents were developed by the renowned Management Centre St Gallen and developed yet further by Professor Keller.
Once a year, our sales staff and application engineers from around the world meet at our head office in Nabburg for the “International Sales Meeting” (September 18 – 19, 2019) and take the opportunity to exchange their experiences.
On 2 September we had the pleasure of welcoming eight new trainees to emz-Hanauer. The new trainees comprise two electronics technicians for devices and systems, two mechatronics technicians, two tool mechanics and two apprentices with a refugee background. The company thus wants to make a further contribution to the important topic of "integration", enabling a young Afghan and an Iraqi to train as metal technology specialists.
emz, with its app solution egate digi, is one of the big winners of the "German Innovation Award 2019". The six-member jury awarded emz Umwelttechnik two prizes in the "Smart Living" category for "business excellence” and "design thinking".
Under the motto "Made in Germany - Made by Diversity", a total of 50 German family-owned companies are advocating more tolerance and open-mindedness. The Hightech live!-Camp, the educational institute of the Bavarian economy in the Upper Palatinate, was held again this year with the support of bayme vbm, bbw and the education authority. It was the sixth successive time that 12 pupils (4 girls and 8 boys) were allowed to participate in this camp.
Christmas time reminds us to be grateful for everything we have. However, in many parts of the world people do not even have the basic necessities, such as a good formal education. And so once again this year, instead of customer gifts we will set up a Christmas donation scheme.

The Apprentice Cup is a football tournament that takes place every year between companies of the region. The event is intended to strengthen the community of apprentices and their team spirit, and in the case of emz it showed that our apprentices are a great team.
As the new “training year” begins, we are very pleased to welcome six new trainees to emz. Among them are two mechatronics technicians, two tool mechanics and two process mechanics. Once again, two female apprentices have been inspired to pursue a technical career at emz.
More than 50 employees participated in this year's district running event “Landkreislauf”. In the disciplines running, walking and cycling, a total of 242 km were covered, a remarkable performance at these high temperatures.
At IFAT, the world's largest environmental technology trade fair, everything revolved around the topics water, wastewater, waste and raw materials management for five days. From 14 to 18 May, more than 141,000 visitors from the trade, coming from over 160 countries, visited Munich.

We are proud to announce you that the product field swisslogix of Ymatron AG has been transferred to emz-Hanauer GmbH & Co KGaA on Mai 1st, 2018. The product field swisslogix comprises of several services in the field of level sensor solutions in the waste business.
Sales- and service activities concerning this product range are performed by emz environmental technology GmbH.
On the first weekend in May, emz took part at the exhibition in Nabburg with its own stand for the 10th time in a row.
The exhibition was organised and implemented by the training centre. Six trainees together with their trainers volunteered to introduce some emz products as well as the company's apprenticed professions. Some of the products presented included the waste lock, closures and sensors, as well as the final examinations of tool mechanics and mechatronics technicians.
Students of the fifth to tenth grades from Johann Andreas Schmeller Grammar school proved their brilliance yet again. It was already the 15th time that emz staged their Technology Competition, again with prize money totalling € 1000.
On 8 February 2018, emz invited the press to attend a conference in Nabburg on the topic “Future strategy and digitization”. Thomas Hanauer, CEO, and Franz Forster, Head of the Household Appliance Division, took more than an hour’s time to give an insight into the company’s development and its strategic orientation for the future.

This year Mexico suffered two major earthquakes affecting thousands of people. Some have suffered the death of a relative, others lost their home or some object of value to them. Because of this, we want to support those people who have lost their home in this unexpected event with a Christmas donation.
On November 3rd, 2017, emz Hanauer receives the Innovation Award for innovative solutions from its key account Midea Dishwashers. From among 360 competitors, 14 companies, including emz, were honoured for their longstanding and great cooperation. The award was based on dishwasher components such as the door latch/ door opener which are produced in the Nanjing / China subsidiary.
Last week, the company emz celebrated an amazing success story at their site in the town of Cernosin (district of Tachov, region of Pilsen).
The 20th anniversary and, at the same time, the inauguration of the extension building on a surface of over 2,400 sq.m. is an event which provides hope and courage for the future, states site manager Anton Grabinger.
This year, too, seven new trainees will be taking up their apprenticeships at emz in Nabburg as of September 1. These are three mechatronic technicians and three tool mechanics, plus one young Afghan for whom emz is providing an apprenticeship for a skilled worker in metal technology. At this point, emz considers it as extremely important to make a contribution towards integration.
It is the second time (since 2004) that emz Hanauer GmbH & Co. KGaA has received an award for being one of Bavaria's fastest-growing companies. Since then, its turnover has more than doubled. Being the world market leader for sensors and interlocks in large-size domestic appliances, with sales amounting to over 112 million euros, we have achieved record sales figures for this year, too. The headcount has grown accordingly.
On Saturday, 15 July 2017, the emz Golf Cup was held for the fourth time in the "Golf- und Landclub Oberpfälzer Wald". Among the enthusiastic golf fans, we were pleased to welcome Mr. Gerhard Strobel, the previous member of our advisory board, who participated together with Thomas Hanauer and two other shareholders.
Every two or three years, emz honours employees for their loyalty towards the Company. On this occasion, we would like to thank them cordially for their work in our Company, for their support and for accompanying changes and in transition phases.
On 20 May, emz participated again in the "Landkreislauf" of the administrative district of Schwandorf, which celebrated its eleventh anniversary. As is the case every year, we were represented by a numerous team and relied on many employees who are enthusiastic runners and walkers starting with a great deal of fun and verve.
On 28th April, emz-Hanauer was granted the “Quality Excellence Award” by its customer Whirlpool. The award ceremony for 2016 was part of this year’s Supplier Day, which took place in the United States in Detroit. A total of 300 suppliers had been invited to the Supplier Day.
On 26 and 27 April, two large groups visited our headquarters in Nabburg at the same time. The guests we were hosting were a work group "Senioren aktiv", an association of active senior citizens in the Catholic Employees Movement, and the REFA association from Amberg. Both guided tours started with a presentation about the company in which our Markus Block from Human Resources informed our guests about the history of emz as well as about the most important customers, products and the locations spread all over the world.
This year, emz again participated in the world's largest exhibition for innovative and efficient heating technology, air-conditioning, building technology and renewable energies in Frankfurt / Main. Despite the spring-like weather conditions, a large number of visitors made their way to the Frankfurt Exhibition Grounds from 14 to 18 March. In Hall 10.2, at booth B18, our emz exhibition team presented products including the family smart Sol and the heating controller series smart Econ Heat Control and were pleased to assist interested visitors and to answer their questions.
With the headcount currently numbering 9, the former emz branch office is celebrating its tenth anniversary. In November 2006, die emz-tecnologie ambientali was founded, having meanwhile grown up to become an autonomous enterprise.

With this year’s Christmas donation, we would like to support children and adolescents in Mexico in their battle against cancer. Since November 2013, the Mexican foundation Teletón in Queretaro has been operating a clinic specializing in treating children suffering from cancer (Hospital Infantil Teletón de Oncología HITO). The clinic disposes of state-of-the-art equipment for diagnostics and treatment in line with international standards.
By inaugurating their own in-house catering facility, emz-Hanauer is consistently implementing what is expected in terms of modern staff care. As the last part of the extensive construction project at the Nabburg location, emz-Hanauer opened up the Company’s own catering facility in mid-September. Here, over 400 members of staff working on the site will have access to a healthy and attractive range of foods, offered in pleasant surroundings.
Sunday, 11 September, was the day everyone had been waiting for. In the scope of an Open Day, an event for the whole family was staged on the premises of emz in Nabburg. Visitors were granted an exclusive insight into the company which operates on an international scale. In addition to employees and their families, the event also attracted the general public from the region. At the end of the day, around 3000 visitors were recorded.
Every year, some trainees begin their careers at emz Hanauer GmbH & Co. KGaA in Nabburg on the 1st of September. We are very pleased to welcome two young men with refugee backgrounds along with the another six trainees. The company will have two freshmen for each field; “tool mechanics”, “process mechanics” and “mechatronics”. In addition, the two trainees with refugee backgrounds, will be trained as “specialists of metal technology” in the following two years.
On 28 July 2016 finally the time has come, the new Customer Innovation Space was officially opened during a dedication ceremony at emz. Exactly 25 years after the inauguration of our new building in Nabburg the headquarters were expanded with a third manufacturing area. The so called “CIS” was the centerpiece of the additional building.
For the very first time ever, emz turnover has exceeded EUR 100 million. Successful especially with locks, sensors and household appliance systems. New innovative products in the domestic and disposal engineering sectors sustained turnover in the USA and Asia. For the component suppliers emz Hanauer GmbH & Co. KG a. A. and their over 1000 employees, the recently completed fiscal year has been the most successful one so far within the company’s history. Following the extremely successful previous year, another rise in turnover of 13 % has been achieved, exceeding the company’s internal planning by almost 5 %.
emz-Hanauer reached the judging stage in the Oskar Patzelt Foundation competition for “Award for Midsized Enterprises.” Each year in autumn the Oskar Patzelt Foundation awards excellent German companies with the “Award for Midsized Enterprises”. Companies from all over Germany can be recommended to compete and are judged in five categories. The categories that are judged are: economic development, workplaces and trainee positions, innovation and modernization, commitment across the region and aspects of customer proximity and marketing.
emz supports day-care center for handicapped people in the Czech Republic. With this year's Christmas donation, we would like to give the children and adults from the Vitecek Center in the Czech Republic a special treat. The two day-care centers Cernosin and Koren provide handicapped people with comprehensive treatment facilities for body, mind and soul. Treatments such as air therapy, sensual therapy or water therapy support motor systems and awareness in an enjoyable manner.
Work instead of relaxing holidays! Twelve pupils aged fifteen took their holidays in November in order to get an impression of the daily working life in technical professions such as process mechanics as well as mechatronic and electronic technicians. Taking place annually in November, “Hightech Live” offers youngsters which are interested in technical professions the possibility to develop and produce a special boat. It is a catamaran that is operated with solar power. Besides Horsch Agricultural Machines and Quadrus Metal Works, emz-Hanauer is one of the partners of the programme.
On 29 July 2015, the Member of the German Parliament a native of the Upper Palatinate was welcomed by emz in its Headquarters in Nabburg. In the course of the summer tour within his home electoral district, Mr. Holmeier was able to get an impression of the expert know how and the innovations of emz.
